Common questions
How do I keep my iPhone and Mac in sync?
Sign in to the same Apple Account on each device, with iCloud on. Helm syncs on its own; changes usually appear on your other devices within a minute. If you're adding a device that already has its own Helm data, make a backup and keep only one copy before turning sync on, so nothing appears twice.
Why doesn't my Apple Watch show the clock?
The Watch gets its information from your iPhone. Open Helm on your iPhone once, and keep the Watch paired and nearby. You can clock in and out on the Watch even out of range; it catches up with the iPhone later.
Where do per diem rates come from?
From the per diem files the U.S. General Services Administration publishes for each fiscal year. Helm downloads a year's rates the first time a project needs them and looks up the venue's ZIP code. GSA publishes next year's rates each August; until then, a job further out uses the latest published rate and updates once the new one is out. You can always type in a rate of your own.
Why didn't GeoFencing clock me in?
GeoFencing needs Location set to "Always" for Helm, and a venue with a location. Check Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Helm, and that GeoFencing is on for the project.
Why weren't my flights found?
Helm reads flights from the calendar you choose in Settings, matched to the project's dates and the venue's preferred airport. Make sure the airport code is set on the venue, and that your airline's flights are in that calendar. Driving instead? Turn on No Flights in the project's Edit page.
How do I back up or move my data?
In Settings, Backup saves everything to a file you keep wherever you like. Restore brings it back, either replacing what's in the app or adding to it without doubling projects you already have.
How do I delete my data?
Delete anything in the app, or erase everything from Settings. With iCloud sync on, deletions reach your other devices too. See the Privacy Policy for more.
Privacy
Helm doesn't collect your data. Everything stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account. Read the Privacy Policy.
